Toyo Advanced Technologies Holds Opening Ceremony for Toyo Automobile Components Thailand ("TACT")
Toyo Advanced Technologies (Head Office: Minami-ku, Hiroshima City, President: Yoshiaki Hongo; "Toyo" below) held the opening ceremony for "Toyo Advanced Technologies Automobile Components (Thailand) Co., Ltd." ("TACT" below), which will function as a production base in Thailand for oil pumps for automatic transmissions.
The ceremony was attended by Norio Tsukaana, company president of TACT, as well as all other TACT employees, Yoshiaki Hongo, President of Toyo, and various other persons related to the company. The tape cutting ceremony was followed by speeches congratulating the opening of this production base and other events. In his remarks at the opening ceremony, Toyo President Yoshiaki Hongo commented that, "Today, I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to all the numerous persons whose generous support has made it possible to hold this opening ceremony for TACT. Thailand is an extremely attractive production area for the automobile industry, and TACT will contribute to the further prosperous development of Thailand, together with Mazda Powertrain Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (MPMT) and Mazda Group. Moreover, with the aim of being a 'Good Corporate Citizen', I hope this plant will be the subject of great pride for all the Thais working at TACT."
Toyo has developed three areas of business operations: machine tools, automobile components and hard coating. Toyo's main plant for automobile components is located in Higashi-Hiroshima, where the company manufactures oil pumps for automatic transmission and other components. This plant also supplies all the oil pumps for the "SKYACTIV-DRIVE" equipped to Mazda vehicles. When Mazda announced their decision to establish their new transmission plant, MPMT, in Thailand to produce "SKYACTIV-DRIVE" transmissions, Toyo also decided to start producing oil pumps for MPMT in Thailand also. TACT was established as a local subsidiary in July 2013 with 100% of the initial investment provided by Toyo and the Thai company is Toyo's first overseas production base.
With Toyo's Higashi-Hiroshima Plant serving as a "Mother Plant", TOYO, as a machine tool manufacturer, is introducing its most recent equipment at TACT, starting with the newly developed mid-size machining center (TVM-35). Borrowing space within the MPMT plant, a line with a production capacity of 400,000 units a year was created with a total investment of approximately 1.2 billion yen. Opening this plant will allow Toyo to divide the supplying of oil pumps for the "SKYACTIV-DRIVE" between the Higashi-Hiroshima Plant, providing pumps to the Mazda Hofu Plant, and TACT providing them to MPMT.
