Toyo Advanced Technologies Co., Ltd. (Head office: Minami-ku, Hiroshima City, President: Yoshiaki Hongo) has developed gear grinding machine "TGG-26-2W" that is capable of high-efficiency mass production of JIS Grade 1 precision gears, and the company is currently accepting orders for the machine. In the automobile industry, high-precision gears are required more and more as one method of improving gas mileage and enhanced silence, and Toyo has taken this opportunity for their full-scale entry into the gear grinding machine market.
The TGG-26-2W model, which is now on sale, is equipped with dual heads and is capable of grinding gear tooth surfaces up to a maximum outer diameter of 260 mm. The TGG-26 (single head) developed in 2012 has been further evolved to provide a machine that is more compact, and provides high-precision high-efficiency machining.

The width of the machine body is 2,440 mm, making it 24% smaller than previous models and resulting in a reduction of footprint by 35% to provide for space-saving needs of customers. Additionally, machine rigidity has been improved, allowing it to be equipped with a tooth-surface modification function developed uniquely by Toyo Advanced Technologies. Due to this, teeth can be easily modified to achieve the customer's desired tooth surface profile, even if machining the gear for the first time, and this makes it possible to startup mass production of high-precision gears in a short period. Additionally, the use of dual heads greatly reduces the non-machining time, making it an optimal model for mass-production machining.
The following are the main features of the TGG-26-2W.
Easy Tooth-Surface Modification
The machine is equipped with a newly developed tooth-surface modification function. The necessary correction amount is determined after machining of the initial product, and the customer can directly enter this amount into the machine operating panel to perform modification of pressure angles, bias and similar characteristics. This makes it easy to achieve your target precision.
High-Precision Machining
The low center of gravity of the machine, as well as the high-rigidity construction of the grinding wheel spindle, columns and heads provide an overall rigidity that is top-class level. Additionally, the use of thermal analysis and equipping of an oil pan to the bed surface provide a structure with minimal thermal displacement. Moreover, improved tracking of the grinding wheel spindle and heads provide stable JIS Grade 1 high-precision machining.
High-Efficiency Machining
The high rigidity of this machine allows for high-load grinding. The grinding wheel spindle is equipped with a 28 kW high-output motor to provide high efficiency. Additionally, adoption of dual heads allows you to remove a gear from or install a gear to the head of the opposite side even during machining by the head of this side, realizing reduced non-machining times. Moreover, when replacing the grinding wheel, you can leave the heavy wheel flange installed and only replace the wheel itself, thereby greatly reducing the replacing time. This provides high productivity making this an optimal model for use in mass-production machining.
Incorporation Into Production Line
Using TVG Series of vertical internal grinding machines manufactured by Toyo Advanced Technologies in the processes prior to the TGG-26-2W allows you to incorporate grinding processes of the gear inner diameter, faces and tooth surfaces into a production line. This allows you to save labor in and automate production processes.
