Toyo Advanced Technologies Sets Up Autoparts Company in Thailand
- Will start supplying oil pumps for Mazda SKYACTIV-DRIVE in 2015 -
In July 2013, Toyo Advanced Technologies (Head Office: Minami-ku, Hiroshima City, President: Yoshiaki Hongo; "Toyo" below) set up "TOYO ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES AUTOMOBILE COMPONENTS (THAILAND) CO., LTD. " ("TACT" below), a local subsidiary in Thailand that is 100% funded by Toyo.
Mazda Motor Corporation (Head Office: Fuchu-cho, Aki-gun, Hiroshima Prefecture, President: Masamichi Kogai) is currently building a new transmission plant (Mazda Powertrain Manufacturing (Thailand), President: Hidenori Kawakami; "MPMT" below) at an industrial park in Thailand's Chonburi Province, and TACT will produce oil pumps for SKYACTIV-DRIVE inside that plant. The pumps will be supplied to MPMT. The total amount invested in TACT is approximately 1.2 billion yen. TACT is scheduled to begin operation in the first half of FY 2015 and to produce pumps for some 400,000 transmissions annually.
This is the first time that Toyo has set up a plant overseas and represents a new advance by the company.
